Access Log Information

Like most web servers, we collect access log data for a statistical report of our site traffic. We do not use this information to identify users, but merely to follow the progression of users through our site.

Our site uses a persistant cookie to remember the contents of your shopping cart. No other information is gathered from the use of this cookie.

Transaction Information

In order to complete a purchase with Journal of Chemical Education, you need to register for an account. Doing so stores physical contact information such as your home address, billing address, and phone number in our database. Additionally, your email address is stored as your log-in name. Your email address will be used for correspondence concerning your order and, if you opted to receive it, our electronic newsletter.

We use your contact information only to fulfill orders you make with Journal of Chemical Education. All information you submit to us is encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. You have access to this information and may change it at any time. However, we do keep records of all transactions, including packing slips and invoices, so any information recorded at the time of the transaction will be preserved in our records. We do not sell, share, or distribute this information to any third parties, except when it is necessary to fulfill your order, which is detailed below.

• For credit card transactions, your billing information is passed through an authorization gateway. Your information is encrypted using SSL and is not shared at any time.

• Your shipping information is shared with the company that delivers your order. This includes only your shipping address and, in some cases, your telephone number. We do not share any billing information with the shipping company.

Additional Contact

If you opt not to receive our occasional electronic newsletter, you will not receive any additional mailings aside from those sent in fulfilling your order, such as confirmation emails and order status updates. You will never receive "junk mail" or telephone solicitations as a result of your transactions with Journal of Chemical Education.
